(Order of 嘉禾). Instituted 1912. 1912-1929 issued. A highly detailed scarce II Class Case of Issue in embroidered cloths of several colors and materials, consisting of alternate patterns of purple, pink, green, blue, and red wool rows, each one separated by varied patterns of embroidered gray wool, on a base of a hard-structure white cotton (probably on a completed wood internal structure), the lid exterior presenting an additional red silk stripe with handmade black-colored Chinese lettering, denoting the name of the Order and the Class, interior featuring the lid in delicate bright red silk and a slotted metal bed in red velvet, measuring 128 mm (w) x 73 mm (h) x 320 mm (l), with two flanked clasp clip catches, with one clip lacking, presenting minor wearing along the surfaces and edges, with some evident loose back seams, good condition.
This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
