Austria, Imperial. A Medal for the Defence of Tirol 1866, by Josef Tautenhayn

(Denkmünze an die Tiroler Landesverteidigungs 1866). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original tri-fold ribbon, the obverse with a rightward-facing profile of Franz Joseph I circumscribed by name and title, the reverse with inscription of “MEINEM TREUEN VOLKE VON TIROL 1866” (“MY LOYAL PEOPLE OF TIROL 1866”), within an oak and laurel wreath, the obverse maker marked “Tautenhayn” for Josef Tautenhayn, measuring 31.12 mm in diameter, weighing 15.3 grams (inclusive of ribbon), in better than very fine condition.
