Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Grand Duchy. A Military Merit Cross, II Class, c.1914

(Militär-Verdienstkreuz II. Klasse). A cross constructed of gilded bronze, consisting of a cross pattée with ribbed arms, the obverse with central initials FF, the twelve o’clock arm with a royal crown, the six o’clock arm with a date of 1914, the reverse with inscription FÜR VERDIENST IM KRIEGE (FOR SERVICE IN WAR), unmarked, measuring 41.32 mm (w) x 46.27 mm (h), on loop for suspension from period original combat ribbon, and in very fine condition.
