Germany, Wehrmacht. A Cased Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross, 1957 Issue

(Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes). Reinstituted 1 September 1939 . (1939-1945 issue; post-1957 reissue). Constructed of silver and brass, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a ribbed silver frame and a blackened brass core, the obverse with three central raised oak leaves, the six o’clock arm with a raised reinstitution date of “1939”, the reverse with an initial institution date of “1813” on the six o’clock arm, the twelve o’clock arm with an integral loop bearing a hanger, accompanied by its period original neck ribbon, the hanger with a silver purity mark of “800”, measuring 48.55 mm (w) x 54.72 mm (h), weighing 22.0 grams, also accompanied by its period original case of issue, constructed of heavy card stock with a faux black leather exterior, the interior with a white satin-type lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a slotted and depressed black felt medal bed, opening with a functional magnetic metal spring catch with exterior stud release, functional magnetic metal hinge, unmarked, measuring 80 mm (w) x 145 mm (l) x 23 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
