Instituted in 1815. A fine early 20th century sash fabricated from silk, incorporating a decorative moiré pattern, with a light blue field throughout, a large bow-tie with a brass loop sewn in place near the bottom end for the placement of the badge, measuring 100 mm wide x 810 mm in length, intact stitching, exhibiting soiling throughout, very fine.
Footnote: The Royal Guelphic Order was instituted on August 12, 1815 by The Prince Regent (later George IV) an discontinued in 1837 (as a British Order, continued as a Hanoverian Order). It was awarded for distinguished services to the United Kingdom or Hanover, three grades, in Civil and Military Divisions.
