A badge of multi-piece construction, illustration a silver eagle bearing a shield inscribed 1914 and surmounted by an imperial crown, affixed to a silver cross base within a circular frame inscribed DURCH NOT UND TOD, reverse presents maker mark H. STEENAERTS, G.M.1804, horizontal pinback, measuring 40.01 mm (w) x 40.47 mm (h), accompanied by case constructed of cardstock, exterior lid presents an outline of a sword and DURCH NOT UND TOD 1914, the interior lid is lined in white satin, maker marked in gold with GEORG KATTENTIDT, JUWELIER, HILDESHEIM, SCHEELENSTRASSE 17, with a velvet, slotted medal bed, measuring 72 mm (w) x 71 mm (l) x 17 mm (h), and in near very fine condition.
