Austria, Imperial. An 1813-14 Army Cross

(Armeekreuz 1813-14) Constructed of bronze, on ribbed loop for suspension,consisting of a Cross Pattée with pebbled arms and a laurel leaf through the quadrants, the obverse with an inscription of “GRATI PRINCEPS ET PATRIA FRANC. IMP. AUG” (“A GRATEFUL PRINCE AND COUNTRY, FRANCIS, EMPEROR”), the reverse with an inscription of “EUROPAE LIBERTATE ASSERTA” (“EUROPE’S LIBERTY ASSERTED”) with dates “1813-1814” in Roman numerals, unmarked, measuring 27.03 mm (w) x 30.25 mm (h), weighing 10.1 grams, in near extremely fine condition.
