Constructed of gilded bronze, the obverse with a raised rightward-facing profile of Franz Joseph I circumscribed by name and title, the reverse with an inscription of “SIGNUM LAUDIS” (“SIGN OF PRAISE”) inside of a laurel and oak wreath, with a richly-detailed crown suspension and loop connecting to a period original tri-fold ribbon, unmarked, measuring 30.74 mm (w) x 50.47 mm (h), weighing 20.5 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of card stock with a faux red exterior, the obverse lid with a gold embossed Imperial Austrian coat of arms, the interior with a white satin-type lid liner maker marked “Rothe & Neffe, Wien, K.u.K. Kammer-Juweliere”, with a depressed black doeskin medal bed, opening with a functional bronze spring catch with exterior stud release and dual functional magnetic metal hinges, measuring 62 mm (w) x 107 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
