(Орден за Военна Заслуга). Instituted in May of 1900. An Urdy cross constructed of gilded bronze, with arms constructed of red enamel, with two swords crossed between the body of the cross, the obverse centre presents the monogram of the founder Ferdinand, surrounded by a ring of green enamel with the inscription ЗА ВОЕННА ЗАСЛУГА (For Military Merit), the reverse centre presents a gilded Bulgarian lion rampant with a shield and the Saxon coat of arms imposed on its breast within a green enamel ring inscribed in silver letters with the date 2 August 1891, measuring 62.61 mm (w) x 96.03 mm (h - inclusive of crown), weighing 59.5 grams, on an ornate gilded and enamelled crown suspension, on flat loop for suspension from period original neck ribbon, and in extremely fine condition, accompanied by the case of issue, hard-shelled design on both the lid and base, the exterior with a red dimpled fabric covering on all sides, the lid bearing the impressed cipher of Tsar Ferdinand I (Reign: 5 October 1908 - 3 October 1918) surmounted by the Imperial Crown and inscribed ОРДЕНЪ ЗА ВОЕННА ЗАСПУГА. III. CT. in gold-coloured ink, interior lid lined in a white synthetic fabric and padded, a white cardboard insert placed within the base and housing a white felt recessed medal bed, single clasp closure, measuring 8.7 mm (w) x 15 cm (l) x 27 cm (h), scuffing, wear and soiling evident on the exterior, the interior panel on the lid having come away from the body of the case, mild soiling present in the white felt of the medal bed, and in good condition.
