Germany, Luftwaffe. A Ground Assault Badge by Gustav Brehmer

(Erdkampfabzeichen der Luftwaffe). Constructed of zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, overlaid by a Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, on top of a cloud from which a lightning bolt is emanating and striking the ground, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked “G.B.” for Gustav Brehmer, Markneukirchen, measuring 43.18 mm (w) x 56.47 mm (h), weighing 31.8 grams, in better than very fine condition.
