Germany, Wehrmacht. A LDO-Marked Case for a 1939 Iron Cross I Class

(Eisernes Kreuz 1939 I. Klasse Etui). Constructed of card stock with a faux black leather exterior, the obverse lid with a silver embossed Cross Pattée, the interior with a white satin-type lid liner marked with a gold inscription of “LDO” for “LEISTUNGSGEMEINSCHAFT DEUTSCHE ORDENHERSTELLER” (“GUILD OF GERMAN AWARDS MANUFACTURERS”) and intact hinge cover, with a slotted white felt medal bed, opening with a functional magnetic metal spring catch with exterior stud release and a functional magnetic metal hinge, measuring 67 mm (w) x 67 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
