(Luftwaffe Fallschirmjäger-Messer). A Luftwaffe paratrooper knife using a sliding steel blade inside a metal grip fitted with walnut, the grain running through vertically, grip plates. The blade is a relatively blunt spear-point with a flat ground profile, tapering to a utility edge, measuring 100 mm, marked with Reichsbetriebsnummer “RB Nr. 0/0561/0020” indicating manufacture by the firm of Paul Weyersberg in Solingen. The throat has an arrow marking, pointing downward to the takedown actuator, while under the throat fitting is an arrow pointing upward and the marking “511,” with the same number stamped on the bottom plate of the throat. A magnetic steel loop extends from the grip. The knife is equipped with a folding marlinspike marked with symbol for waffenamt code “Luft 5,” a “stickbird” clutching the number “5.” Measuring 155 mm in total length. Slight wear of the wood and metal features is evident, but the knife is in an otherwise near extremely fine condition.
