Germany, Luftwaffe. A Pilot’s Badge, by Assmann & Söhne

(Flugzeugführerabzeichen). Constructed of zink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, with a central swooping Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse with two visible rivets holding the obverse eagle in place, with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, marked with the logo of maker Assmann & Söhne, Lüdenscheid, measuring 64.83 mm (w) x 53.58 mm (h), weighing 29.1 grams, the original silvered finish has been lost, a late-war example in very fine condition.
