(Eisernes Kreuz 1939 I. Klasse). A cross pattée of multi-piece construction with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver border, the obverse with a raised central mobile swastika with the re-institution date 1939 in raised numbering on the lower arm, the reverse plain with a barrel hinge and vertical banjo-style pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked but characteristic of the maker Fritz Zimmermann, measuring 43.87 mm (w) x 43.98 mm (h), weighing 19.2 grams, and in very fine condition. Accompanied by its case of issue, constructed of heavy pressed paper with a textured black faux leather exterior, lined interior lid presenting the LDO logo in black, with a recessed medal bed, functional spring catch with stud release, intact interior fabric hinge cover, functional exterior metal hinge, measuring 69 mm (w) x 69 mm (l) x 19 mm (h), and in near very fine condition.
