A presentation case for a Grand Officer’s Star of the Order of Orange-Nassau, constructed of a wood frame with a faux orange leather exterior, the obverse lid with a gold embossed Crown of Orange-Nassau, the interior with a padded blue satin-type lid liner, with a maker’s mark of “M.J. Goudsmit, Bijoutier, Spécalité de Croix et Ruban d’Ordres Fournisseur de la Cour et de la Chancellerie, La Haye”, intact hinge cover, with a slotted and depressed blue doeskin medal bed, opening with a functional bronze snap button with exterior stud release and dual functional magnetic metal hinges, measuring 115 mm (w) x 115 mm (l) x 37 mm (h), some material fatigue evident, otherwise in better than very fine condition.

 

This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
