Germany, Wehrmacht. A Close Combat Clasp, Bronze Grade, by Funcke & Brüninghaus

(Nahkampfspange in Bronze). Constructed of bronzed zink, the obverse with a German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, with a bayonet and hand grenade in the centerpiece, with sun rays emanating from the centre of the left and right sides and four oak leaves and two acorns on each side, the reverse with a barrel hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked “F. & B. L.” for Funcke & Brüninghaus, Lüdenscheid, measuring 98.10 mm (w) x 26.95 mm (h), weighing 31.3 grams, much of the gilt finish has been lost and the centerpiece is missing its backplate, otherwise in very fine condition.
