(SA Erinnerungs Dolch). This is a unique and very well-preserved Sturmabteilung (SA) commemorative dagger, measuring 380 mm in length when inserted into the crossguard. The dagger features a 220 mm-long nickel-plated magnetic metal blade, the obverse of which bears an acid-etched inscription of “ALLES FÜR DEUTSCHLAND” (“EVERYTHING FOR GERMANY”). The reverse features an acid-etched inscription of “DEM SIEGER SA-STURMBANN II/143” with a date of “23.8.36”. The ricasso bears an acid-etched maker’s mark of “CARL WÜSTHOF, SOLINGEN” along with the company’s logo, along with a Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) logo and maker codes “M7/112” and “RZM/1221/3” for the aforementioned manufacturer. The blade presents with a sharpened tip and semi-sharpened edges. The blade is set firmly into the upper crossguard, itself constructed of nickel-plated steel and bearing eight etched notches, with four on the top and four on the bottom. Set into the obverse handle is a silvered metal SA-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, measuring 25 mm (w) x 15 mm (h), and a SA logo of identical construction, measuring 9 mm in diameter. The dagger completes with a nickel-plated pommel, similarly bearing eight notches, held in place with a nut. It is accompanied by its original scabbard, constructed of brown-painted magnetic metal. The tip features a magnetic metal adornment held in place with two rivets, while the throat, similarly constructed of nickel-plated magnetic metal, is held in place by dual rivets and retains its functional spring catch for secure storage of the dagger. The throat also bears a metal loop for attachment to a dagger hanger. Running marks are evident to the blade, and there is some minor scratching and tarnishing of the metallic features, but the dagger is in an otherwise extremely fine condition.
