Germany, Luftwaffe. A Fallschirmjäger Gravity Knife, by SMF Solingen

(Luftwaffe Fallschirmjäger-Messer). A Luftwaffe paratrooper knife using a sliding steel blade inside a metal grip fitted with walnut, the grain running through vertically, grip plates. The blade is a relatively blunt spear-point with a flat ground profile, tapering to a utility edge, measuring 100 mm, marked with logo for SMF Solingen Rostfrei. A magnetic steel loop extends from the grip. The knife is equipped with a folding marlinspike marked with symbol for waffenamt code Luft 5, a stickbird clutching the number 5. Serial numbered 523 on back of thumb tab, which has detached from the knife. The knife shows moderate surface wear, and, other than the detached thumb tab, is in good condition.
