Germany, Wehrmacht. A War Merit Cross, II Class with Swords, by Frank & Reif

(Kriegsverdienstkreuz II. Klasse mit Schwertern). Constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Maltese Cross with pebbled arms, the obverse with a central mobile swastika inside of an oak leaf wreath, the reverse with a central date of “1939” inside of an oak leaf wreath, unmarked, measuring 48.41 mm (w) x 49.86 mm (h), accompanied by its period original package of issue, constructed of light-brown paper stock, the obverse with an inscription of “KRIEGSVERDIENSTKREUZ 2. KLASSE MIT SCHWERTERN” (“WAR MERIT CROSS II. CLASS WITH SWORDS”), the reverse with a maker’s mark of “FRANK & REIF, STUTTGART”, measuring 58 mm (w) x 101 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
