Germany, Third Reich. A Fire Brigade Service Cross, II Class

(Feuerlöschwesen Verdienstkreuz II. Klasse). Constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Geneva Cross, the obverse with white enameled arms and stylized red enameled flames, with a central medallion depicting a black enameled mobile swastika on a white enameled field, the quadrants joined by silvered bands with inscription “FÜR TREUE DIENSTE IM FEUERLÖSCHWEHR” (“FOR FAITHFUL SERVICE IN THE FIRE BRIGADE”), the reverse plain, unmarked, measuring 43.35 mm (w) x 47.36 mm (h), weighing 17.2 grams, in near extremely fine condition.
