Germany, Imperial. A Hamburg Hanseatic Cross

(Hanseatenkreuz Hamburg). Constructed of silvered bronze with enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse with red enameled arms, with a central red enameled medallion bearing a silvered coat of arms of Hamburg, the reverse with an inscription of “FÜR VERDIENSTE IM KRIEGE 1914”, unmarked, measuring 40.16 mm (w) x 43.99 mm (h), weighing 18.6 grams, in better than very fine condition.
