Germany, Imperial. A Decoration for Bereaved Mothers

Constructed of silvered bronze, the obverse consisting of a round laurel wreath, overlaid by a cherub, a royal crown, and a banner reading “TREUE DIENSTE” (“FAITHFUL SERVICE”), the reverse with a barrel hinge and horizontal pinback meeting a round wire catch, unmarked, measuring 39.59 mm (w) x 42.89 mm (h), weighing 32.0 grams, in extremely fine condition.
