International. A Military Order of the Knights of Concordia, Knight’s Cross with Miniature

A presentation case for a Knight’s Cross of the Military Order of the Knights of Concordia, constructed of a good frame with a faux red leather exterior, the obverse lid trimmed with a stylized gold border, with a Central Maltese Cross bearing a wreathed globe inscribed “CONCORDIA”, with an oak leaf wreath through the quadrants, on a gold disk, the interior with a padded white satin-type lid liner and intact hinge cover, the lid liner with an illegible maker’s mark, with a depressed white doeskin medal bed, with spaces for the cross as well as a miniature and a boutonniere, opening with a functional bronze snap button, with functional dual magnetic metal hinges, measuring 125 mm (w) x 138 mm (l) x 28 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition.

Accompanied by its miniature, constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, measuring 9 mm (w) x 17 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.

Also accompanied by its boutonniere, measuring 9 mm in diameter, set on a blackened magnetic metal button measuring 16 mm in diameter, in extremely fine condition.

 

This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
