Lippe, Principality. An Order of Leopold, II Class Cross, c.1916

(Leopold Orden Kreuz 2. Klasse). Instituted in 1869. Type III. (1916-1918 Issue). A silver Maltese cross with purple enamelled arms, and ball finals, with Leopold’s royal monogram between each arm of the cross, along with a hollow royal crown attached to the top of the cross, the obverse with a silver Lippian rose with a central multi-coloured enamelled Schwalenberg coat of arms, the reverse with a decorated central crowned royal cypher of Leopold, with a vertical pinback and a functional hinge/catch assembly, measuring 46.64 mm (w) x 68.61 mm (h - inclusive of crown), weighing 21.6 grams, in better than extremely fine condition.
