(Waffen-SS Einheitsfeldmütze). This is a very well-preserved, late war Waffen-SS M43 field cap, constructed of field-grey wool twill. The cap features fold-down side panels, providing ear and neck protection for the wearer. When not in use, the panels are held in place by an dual vertically-arranged black bakelite buttons on the right panel meeting analogous buttonholes on the left panel. The peak of the cap bears a trapezoid insignia with a BeVo-style, silver-grey SS eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika above a Totenkopf, set on a field-grey rayon patch. The insignia measures 52 mm (w) x 42 mm (h). The exterior of the cap is completed by a cardboard-reinforced protruding visor. The interior is fully lined with an olive drab cotton liner. The cap is unmarked and measures approximately 180 mm (w) x 280 mm (l) x 125 mm (h). The cardboard visor reinforcement has been cracked in the centre, and there is minor material fatigue evident to the exterior, but the cap is in an otherwise near extremely fine condition.
