Constructed of gilded bronze, the obverse with a central leftward-facing profile of Kaiser Wilhelm II circumscribed by name and title, flanked by an inscription of “VERDIENST UM DAS FEUERLÖSCHWESEN” (“MERIT IN THE FIRE BRIGADE”), on topped by crossed axes, a monogram of Kaiser Wilhelm II, and a royal crown, the reverse with an etched inscription of “ORIGINAL”, with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, measuring 31.15 mm (w) x 37.95 mm (h), weighing 11.5 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of card stock with a faux maroon leather exterior, the interior with a red satin-type lid liner and partially intact hinge cover, with a slotted purple velvet medal bed, opening with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release and a functional magnetic metal hinge, the reverse of the exterior maker marked “MAX V. KAWACZYNSKI, BERLIN SW 29”, measuring 58 mm (w) x 64 mm (l) x 22 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
