A ten-pointed cross with five branches in blue enamel, the obverse centre presents a central medallion representing the coat of arms of Guatemala, surrounded by a ring of white enamel inscribed GUATEMALA AL MERITO, the reverse presents the date in Roman Numerals MCMXXXVI, circumscribed by a ring of white enamel and the inscription ORDEN DEL QUETZAL, measuring 58.37 mm (w) x 59.39 mm (h), on loop for suspension from period original sash, and in better than very fine condition. Accompanied by a large star in silver with gilded rays as well as a five-pointed blue enamelled star, the obverse centre presents a hand-painted motif, bordered by a ring of white enamel with the inscription GUATEMALA AL MERITO, the reverse presents a principle vertical pin assembly, maker’s cartouche for E. GARDINO SUCC. CRAVANZOLA, ROMA VIA DEL CORSO 341, measuring 86.36 mm (w) x 86.16 mm (h), weighing 101.4 grams, and in extremely fine condition. Accompanied by its presentation case of issue, with hard-shell in dark blue, the obverse presenting the coat of arms in gilt along with the title REPUBLICA DE GUATEMALA ORDEN DEL QUETZAL, the interior lid maker marked GIOIELLERIA CRAVANZOLA SUCC. GARDINO, lined with white satin, presenting a white velvet recessed medal bed, with functional clasp, measuring 136 mm (w) x 284 mm (l) x 50 mm (h), exterior presents wear, in overall good condition.
