(Ordin "Corona Romaniei"). Instituted in 1881. Type I (1881-1932). In silver gilt with red and white enamels, Romanian crown on the obverse centrepiece, measuring 39.8 mm (w) x 41.8 mm (h) inclusive of its laterally-pierced ball suspension, chipping and loss evident in the red enamels on the centrepiece and in the white enamels on the arm at 3 o'clock on the reverse, original ribbon with hook and eye, fine.

 

Footnote: The Order of the Crown of Romania is a chivalric order established on March 14, 1881 by King Carol I of Romania, to commemorate the establishment of the Kingdom of Romania. It was awarded as a state orderuntil the end of the Romanian monarchy in 1947 and was revived on December 30, 2011 as a dynastic order. The order had five classes: Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer and Knight.
