(Königliche Kronen-Orden, I. Klasse Kreuz mit Schwertern und Emailleband des Roten Adler-Ordens). Instituted 18 October 1861 by Kaiser Wilhelm I. (1867-1888 issue). An exceptionally detailed example constructed of Gold and silver, consisting of an eight-pointed radiant star, overlaid with a white and golden-yellow enameled ribbon of the Red Eagle Order, with a vibrant central raised Gold crown, surrounded by a ring of blue enamel bearing a gilt inscription of “GOTT MIT UNS” (“GOD IS WITH US”) in Fraktur script with arabesques, within a ribbed Gold ring, the centerpiece pierced by gilded silver swords, the reverse with a barrel hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a round wire catch, the pinback with a maker’s mark of “JG & S” for the firm of Jean Godet & Sohn, Berlin, alongside a stamped swan indicating importation into France, an exceptionally well-preserved example in extremely fine condition.
