Germany, Wehrmacht. An Azad Hind Medal in Silver with Swords

(Azad-Hind-Orden in Silber mit Schwertern). Constructed of gilded zink, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse with a central inscription of “AZAD HIND” topped by a Bengal tiger and above a lily, the reverse with an inscription of “INDIENS FREIHEITSKAMPF” (“INDIA’S FREEDOM STRUGGLE”), topped by crossed swords clasp, unmarked, measuring 36.35 mm (w) x 50.46 mm (h), weighing 17.9 grams, most of the silver finish has been lost, in overall better than very fine condition.
