Constructed of Gold with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Latin Cross with white enameled arms, the quadrants joined by green enameled oak leaf branches, the obverse with a central Gold profile of Albert III surrounded by a blue enameled ring with a gilt inscription of “ALBERTUS ANIMOSUS” (“ALBERT THE MERCIFUL”), the reverse with a white enameled medallion bearing a hand-painted Saxon coat of arms, surrounded by a blue enameled ring bearing a gilt institution date of “1850” with arabesques, the twelve o’clock arm with a hollow Gold crown suspension with loop, unmarked, measuring 14.48 mm (w) x 28.91 mm (h), weighing 2.5 grams, in near extremely fine condition.
