A round, gilded silver medal, the obverse centre presenting a left-facing profile of Franz Joseph I, circumscribed by FRANZ JOSEPH I. V.G.G. KAISER V. OESTERREICH, the reverse centre presents the inscription DER TAPFERKEIT (FOR BRAVERY), measuring 40.50 mm in diameter, on loop for suspension from period original tri-fold ribbon, and in very fine condition.
