Constructed of gilded silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse with a central rightward-facing profile of Ludwig I circumscribed by name and title, the reverse with a central inscription of “FÜR EHRENVOLLE FÜNFZIG DIENSTES JAHRE” (“FOR AN HONOURABLE FIFTY YEARS OF SERVICE”) within an oak leaf wreath, above a date of “25 AUGUST 1827”, the edge with a crescent moon and silver content mark of “1000” indicating pure silver, measuring 40.38 mm in diameter, weighing 37.1 grams (inclusive of ribbon), in near extremely fine condition.
