Bavaria, Kingdom. A Rare Golden Honor Medal of the Ludwig Order for 50 Years of Service

(Goldene Ehrenmünze des Ludwigsorden für 50 Dienstjahre). Instituted 25 August 1827 by King Ludwig I. (1827-1918 issue). Constructed of gilded silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse with a central rightward-facing profile of Ludwig I circumscribed by name and title, the reverse with a central inscription of “FÜR EHRENVOLLE FÜNFZIG DIENSTES JAHRE” (“FOR AN HONOURABLE FIFTY YEARS OF SERVICE”) within an oak leaf wreath, above a date of “25 AUGUST 1827”, the edge with a crescent moon and silver content mark of “1000” indicating pure silver, measuring 40.38 mm in diameter, weighing 37.1 grams (inclusive of ribbon), in near extremely fine condition.
