Prussia, Kingdom. A Core for an 1813 Iron Cross

(Eisernes Kreuz 1813 Herzstück). Instituted 17 March 1813 by Kaiser Friedrich Wilhelm III. (1813-1915 issue). Constructed of blackened magnetic iron, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse with three central oak leaves, the six o’clock arm with an institution date of “1813”, the twelve o’clock arm with initials “FW” topped by a royal crown, the reverse plain, unmarked, measuring 37.75 mm (w) x 37.56 mm (h), weighing 10.9 grams, in extremely fine condition.
