(Königliche Kronen-Orden, II. Klasse Kreuz mit Schwertern am Ring). Instituted 18 October 1861 by Kaiser Wilhelm I. (1867-1918 issue). Constructed of gilded silver with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Cross Pattée with white enameled arms outlined with gilt, the obverse with a central gilt crown medallion, within a blue enameled ring bearing a gilt inscription of “GOTT MIT UNS” (“GOD IS WITH US”) with arabesques, the reverse with a central raised gilt monogram of Kaiser Wilhelm I, within a blue enameled ring bearing a gilt institution date of “DEN 18 OKTOBER 1861”, the twelve o’clock arm with a silver gilt crossed swords clasp bearing an integral loop and suspension ring connecting to a period original neck ribbon, some minor flecking of enamels apparent, with evidence that the swords are are post-manufacture addition, in overall near extremely fine condition.
