(Orden Pour le Mérite für Wissenschaft und Künste Miniatur). Instituted 31 May 1842 by Kaiser Friedrich Wilhelm IV. (1842-present issue). Constructed of gilded silver with enamels, consisting of a blue enameled ring with crowns at the cardinal points, around a central raised Hohenzollern-style eagle with mirrored monograms of Kaiser Friedrich Wilhelm IV at the cardinal points, the twelve o’clock arm with a chain suspension, unmarked, measuring 16.53 mm (w) x 18.11 mm (h), weighing 2.2 grams, in extremely fine condition.
