Lübeck, Free City. A Bene Merenti Table Medal

(Gedenkmünze Bene Merenti). Constructed of bronze, the obverse with a robed female figure in front of a Hanseatic trading ship, above an inscription of “BENE MERENTI”, the reverse with a richly-detailed coat of arms of the Free City of Lübeck, circumcribed by an inscription of “SENATUS REIPUBLICAE LUBECENSIS” (“SENATE OF THE REPUBLIC OF LÜBECK”), the reverse with a designer mark of “LOOS DIR. KÖNIG FEC.” for Gottfried Bernhard Loos, measuring 50 mm in diameter, in near extremely fine condition.
