Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Grand Duchy. An Officer’s 25-Year Service Cross in Gold, c.1860

(Militär-Dienstkreuz für Offiziere nach 25 Dienstjahren in Gold). Instituted 30 April 1841 by Grand Duke Paul Friedrich. (1841-1872 issue). Constructed of Gold, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with ribbed borders, the obverse with a central medallion bearing a monogram of Grand Duke Paul Friedrich, the reverse with an analogous medallion bearing a number “25” in Roman numerals, unmarked, measuring 35.23 mm (w) x 40.22 mm (h), weighing 14.6 grams (inclusive of ribbon), in extremely fine condition.
