Two-piece construction, ribbon banner in white metal, mounted to an insignia in browning copper, voided, maker marked "HICKS & SONS LONDON" on the reverse, measuring 45.8 mm (w) x 37.5 mm (h), horizontal pinback, residue evident from cleaning on the reverse, extremely fine.

 

Footnote: The Battalion was raised in Brandon and Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Port Arthur and Kenora, Ontario with mobilization headquarters at Camp Valcartier, Quebec under the authority of P.C.O. 2067, August 6, 1914. The Battalion sailed October 3, 1914 under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel L.J. Lipsett with a strength of 45 officers and 1,085 other ranks. The Battalion served in France and Belgium with the 2nd Infantry Brigade, 1st Canadian Division. It was disbanded on December 15, 1920.
