Germany, Imperial. A 1913 German Patriotic League Battle of Leipzig Medallion, by Heinrich Schneider

Constructed of bronze, the obverse with raised depiction of the monument to the Battle of National, topped by an inscription of “DEUTSCHER PATRIOTENBUND” (“GERMAN PATRIOTIC LEAGUE”) and above an inscription of “VOLKERSCHLACHTDENKMAL BEI LEIPZIG 1913” (“BATTLE OF NATIONS MEMORIAL AT LEIPZIG 1913”), the reverse with a central knight circumscribed by an inscription of “DER HERR IST DER RECHTE KRIEGSMANN HERR IST SEIN NAME” (“THE LORD IS THE TRUE WARRIOR, THE LORD IS HIS NAME”), unmarked, measuring 38.29 mm in diameter, weighing 24.0 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of card stock, the exterior inscribed “DEUTSCHER PATRIOTENBUND 1813-1913” with a maker’s mark of “HEINRICH SCHNEIDER, HOF-JUWELIER, LEIPZIG, the interior with a white felt medal bed, measuring 44 mm (w) x 44 mm (l) x 12 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
