Prussia, Kingdom. A Hohenzollern Medal for Fighters of 1848/1849

(Hohenzollern Denkmünze für Kämpfer 1848-1849). Instituted 23 August 1851 by King Friedrich Wilhelm IV. (1849 issue). Constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse with a raised depiction of the House Order of Hohenzollern, the reverse with a central inscription of “FRIEDRICH WILHELM IV” within dates of “1848-1849”, circumscribed by an inscription of “SEINEN BIS IN DEN TOD GETREUEN KRIEGERN” (“EVEN IN DEATH, HIS LOYAL WARRIORS”), measuring 29.82 mm in diameter, weighing 14.3 grams, in better than very fine condition.
