(Schutztruppe Krieger-Verdienstmedaille). Instituted 1835 by King Friedrich Wilhelm III. (1873-1918 issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon tri-fold ribbon with a magnetic metal clip, the obverse with a monogram of Kaiser Wilhelm I, the reverse with an inscription of “KRIEGER VERDIENST” (“WARRIOR MERIT”), within a laurel wreath joined together at the bottom by a ribbon, unmarked, measuring 24.76 mm in diameter, weighing 8.0 grams, in near extremely fine condition; accompanied by a reproduction photo of a member of the German Colonial Army (Schutztruppe) wearing the decoration, measuring 100 mm (w) x 150 mm (h), in extremely fine condition; also accompanied by a photo depicting German Army African auxiliaries, the obverse with a photographer’s mark of “PAUL HOFFMANN & CO., BERLIN-SCHÖNBERG”, the reverse with an unspoiled postcard arrangement, measuring 172 mm (w) x 120 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
