Baden, Grand Duchy. A Merit Medal in Silver by Rudolf Mayer, c.1910

(Silberne Verdienstmedaille). Instituted 1907 by Grand Duke Friedrich II. (1908-1918 issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse with a leftward-facing profile of Friedrich II circumscribed by name and title, the reverse with an inscription of “FÜR VERDIENST” (“FOR MERIT”) inside of an oak wreath, the obverse maked marked “R.M.” for Rudolf Mayer, measuring 38.17 mm in diameter, weighing 30.2 grams (inclusive of ribbon), in near extremely fine condition.
