Constructed of gilded silver with enamels, consisting of a Maltese Cross with white enameled arms, the obverse bearing central gilt crossed swords, the quadrants joined by NSDAP-style German national eagle clutching wreathed mobile swastikas on white enameled backgrounds, the twelve o’clock arm with a ribbed fan and integral loop connecting to a suspension ring with a period correct replacement ribbon, unmarked but with the physical characteristics of manufacture by Gebrüder Godet, Berlin, measuring 44.85 mm (w) x 49.64 mm (h), weighing 23.6 grams (inclusive of ribbon), some flecking of enamels evident, in overall near extremely fine condition.
