Germany, Wehrmacht. A Panzer Assault Badge, Silver Grade, by Hermann Aurich

(Panzerkampfabzeichen in Silber). Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon and topped by a perched Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, with a Panzerkampfwagen IV superimposed in the centre on grassy ground, with its left tank track extending over the edge of the badge, the reverse with a barrel hinge set inside of a crimped border and a vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, marked with the logo of maker Hermann Aurich, Dresden, measuring 41.45 mm (w) x 59.96 mm (h), weighing 31.2 grams, some loss of finish evident, in overall near extremely fine condition.
