Instituted on 14 May 1888. A gilded silver Maltese cross with white-enamelled arms, with lions between the upper left and lower right arms, with a unicorn between the lower left and upper right arms, measuring 52.59 mm (w) x 52.78 mm (h), on a loop for suspension from period original neck ribbon, accompanied by a silver breast star, presenting as a silver Maltese cross, the reverse presents a principle pin assembly, measuring 53.34 mm (w) x 53.05 mm (h), both in very fine condition.
