Constructed of a extra-large gilded bronze medal, the obverse centre presenting the left-facing bust of Franz Joseph I, surrounded by the inscription FRANZ JOSEPH I.V.G.G. KAISER V. OESTERREICH, maker marked K.ANGE.F., the reverse centre presenting the inscription FÜR STANDHAFTES AUSHARREN IN DER BESCHWORENEN TREUE IM JAHRE 1848 (FOR UNWAVERING PERSEVERANCE IN SWORN LOYALTY IN 1848), measuring 90.11 mm in diameter, on loop for suspension from period original ribbon, and in very fine condition.
