(Albrechts-Orde, Offizierkreuz in Gold). Instituted on 31 December 1850 by King Friedrich August II. (1890-1918 issue). A superb example in 18 karat Gold with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Latin Cross, the obverse with white enameled arms, with a central raised Gold profile of Duke Albert III, within a blue enameled ring bearing a gilt inscription of “ALBERTUS ANIMOSUS” (“ALBERT THE MERCIFUL”) with arabesques, with a finely-detailed green enameled oak leaf wreath joining the quadrants, the twelve o’clock arm with a hollow Gold crown, the reverse with a barrel hinge and tapering vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, unmarked, measuring 46.30 mm (w) x 69.83 mm (h), weighing 24.6 grams, near mint.
