(Tapferkeitsmedaille in Bronze). Instituted 20 February 1915 by Duke Ernst II. (1915-1918 issue). Constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse with a raised Cross Pattée, bearing a central Saxon coat of arms, flanked by a date of “1914” and topped by a royal crown, the reverse with a monogram of Duke Ernst II, unmarked, measuring 31.03 mm in diameter, weighing 12.7 grams (inclusive of ribbon), in near extremely fine condition.
