(Heer M43 Feldmütze). An extremely well-preserved Heer M43 field cap, constructed of heavy field-grey wool. The cap features fold-down side panels offering ear and neck protection which, when not in use, are held together by two field-grey bakelite buttons on the right flap meeting dual reinforced buttonholes on the left flap. Stitched onto the peak is a field-grey trapezoid rayon insignia bearing a grey BeVo-style Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika above a tri-colour cockade. The insignia measures 55 mm (w) x 42 mm (h). The exterior features are completed by a cardboard-reinforced protruding visor set securely into the structure. The interior is fully lined with dark grey rayon. Stamped onto the crown in black ink is a size of “58”, a Reichsbetriebsnummer of “0/0139/1002” for an unidentified manufacturer, and a date of “1944”. It measuring 210 mm (w) x 270 mm (l) x 135 mm (h). Some cracking of the visor’s cardboard core is evident, but the cap is otherwise fault-free and presents in an extremely fine condition.
